2023 Concert Review

For my second random post, I will review the concerts I attended this year. Disclaimer, I won’t be giving each concert a numerical score since they would all be 10s. This is more of a general short review of my personal experience at each concert.

JANUARY

Harry Styles with special guests Wet Leg

I didn’t know who was going to open for Harry until a week before the show since this was a rescheduled date, so when I heard who it was I was super excited. Wet Leg did not disappoint, they were amazing! (they won 2 Grammys a few days later) I was just upset I couldn’t find their merch booth since I really wanted their tote bag. I have been a fan of Harry Styles since his The X Factor days which is why this was a great way to start my 2023 concert lineup! I think the best way to summarize how I felt when Harry was performing is to quote my friend on the way back to the car, “I have never seen a smile that big on my face.” His outfit was WOW and he sang my favorite unreleased song, Medicine. I would like to point out that he doesn't sing Medicine often BUT he always sings it when I'm in the crowd 💕 (3/3). Also, it was pouring after the show so by the time I made it back to my car I was soaked.

FEBRUARY

Sun Room with special guests The Grinns

The first time I saw Sun Room was when they opened for Louis Tomlinson. This show was my fourth time seeing them in concert, I actually didn’t know they had a show in OC until it popped up on Spotify. Tickets were only $25 and the venue was a 20-minute drive from my house which was a plus since concerts are usually in LA. The Grinns are from OC which was super cool! They were great and I would definitely go see them again. The floor was filled to the brim with high school kids who kept pushing everyone so Monica and I ended up standing by the bar with all the other 20-year-olds and dads. Sun Room was amazing and they sang two unreleased songs (on their new EP)! If you ever have the opportunity to see them live, please do because you will not regret it! I also recommend listening to Sun Room on your next beach trip.

MARCH

Gracie Abrams with special guests Tiny Habits

We had balcony seats for this show but since it was GA admission by the time we arrived the balcony was full. They had us stand behind the balcony and it was pretty hard to see so this was more of an auditory experience. We ended up moving closer to the staircase and I was able to see a little better without standing on my tippy toes. It didn't even matter that I couldn't see Gracie because her singing was angelic. Gracie's voice is so crisp and beautiful, it was mesmerizing. After her last song, she came back with Tiny Habits and sang a surprise unreleased song. I really hope she releases the song 405, because I cannot get it out of my head!

APRIL

Inhaler with special guests Sun Room

This was my first time seeing Inhaler, I had tickets for their last tour but unfortunately, I couldn't make it. Monica, Valerie, and I actually went together after WRIT 340. Sun Room did not disappoint, they sang some hit singles, their new EP, and covered Get Off Of My Cloud. I have been a fan of Inhaler since they released It Won't Always Be Like This, which is why it felt like a full-circle moment when they ended with this song.

The next concerts I am attending are in June, August, and possibly September. Since I already have half of the 2023 months covered, I might as well try and go to a concert each month. So if you have any recommendations please let me know!

  1. This was such a fun post to read! I, too, am an avid concert goer so I loved hearing about the different artists you were able to see live. Have fun at your future concerts!

  2. Harry JUMPSCARE (in a good way). Harry's last LA show was a really good one, even though the rain left me sick. Inhaler's show was the first time I saw Sun Room since I usually show up too late to see the openers, but they were really good and I would definitely see them again. I suggest Arctic Monkeys in Oct and Bruce Springsteen in December.

  3. All 10/10 experiences the teens at Sun Room were something else. I loved that all of the openers for these shows were great as well as its a good way to find new music!
